  • ASSESSMENT, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE and DIRECT FINANCIAL SUPPORT-all can provide capacity-building for nonprofits to better achieve their missions. Use of capacity-building as a foundation and public agency philanthropic strategy is increasing around the country. It represents a shift from short-term grants to long term infrastructure support. Many communities have established capacity-building centers and national networking is growing.
  • SHARE KNOWLEDGE in PARTICIPATORY DISCUSSIONS of timely QUESTIONS
  1. What do these trends mean for Los Angeles area nonprofits, foundations and public agencies?
  2. What kinds of capacity-building programs are needed in the Los Angeles area?
  3. Can coalitions be built to fund and administer capacity-building centers in our local communities?
