Connect LA is a virtual organization linking volunteers and community resources around the Los Angeles area.

Our mission is to enable community neighborhood based organizations to meet their challenges and goals by developing and strengthening the spirit of volunteerism and collaboration in the Los Angeles area.

Background

Connect LA was initiated in 1996 by a task force of corporate and community leaders, with the support of the Directors of Volunteers in Agencies, Los Angeles (DOVIA), to examine needs and resource gaps facing Los Angeles community based organizations. Since then, Connect LA has partnered with many organizations, including the Points of Light Foundation’s Connect America Movement and as a participant in the President’s Summit for America’s Future.

1. Core Committee
The Core Committee serves as Convener / Facilitator throughout the connecting process. Provides long term leadership with a broad understanding of the community and the vision of how to sustain a collaborative effort.

2. Groups and Organizations
Create a partnership with a range of organizations currently delivering needed services.

3. Neighborhood Focus Projects
Reduce huge neighborhood projects into manageable pieces, bringing together sponsors, volunteers and neighborhood residents in a public / private sector collaborative effort and is a simple straightforward means of addressing basic human and environmental issues within specific, defined areas of Los Angeles County.

Connect LA brings together the right people with the right needs through shared resources and collaborative projects. Involvement of children and youth is a top priority for Connect LA. We emphasize programs that address basic issues facing Los Angeles area youth, including gang violence, grief education, jobs for the future, sports and health.
